Preparing for the Road
A successful road trip with your dog requires proper preparation. Here is what you need for both you and your furry co-pilot to enjoy the journey.
Essential Packing List
- Food and water for the entire trip plus extra
- Medications and vet records
- Favorite toys and familiar blanket
- First aid kit with pet supplies
- Microchip registration current
Car Safety
Never let your dog ride loose. Use a crash-tested harness, crate, or dog seat belt. Never leave your dog alone in a parked car — temperatures become dangerous quickly.
Planning Rest Stops
Plan stops every 2-3 hours. Research pet policies for every hotel before booking. Some dogs get carsick or anxious — practice short trips first.
