Puppy Teething: Timeline and Relief Tips

The Puppy Teething Timeline

Puppies are born without teeth. Their 28 baby teeth erupt between 3-6 weeks. Between 12-16 weeks, baby teeth fall out and 42 adult teeth emerge. The process completes by 6-8 months.

Signs of Teething

  • Excessive chewing on anything available
  • Drooling more than usual
  • Small spots of blood on chew toys
  • Decreased appetite from sore gums

Safe Relief Strategies

Offer frozen washcloths twisted into rope shape — the cold numbs sore gums. Use rubber teething toys designed for puppies. Never give pain medication without vet guidance.
